Siemens Digital Industries Software has announced that the Swedish company Heart Aerospace, dedicated to aircraft manufacturing, has selected the Capital™ software suite, part of the Siemens Xcelerator software and services portfolio, to support the design, development and certification of its innovative zero-emission electric aircraft. Siemens' Capital solution will support electrical and electronic (E/E) system design, assisting Heart Aerospace in its efforts to meet both market and regulatory requirements dictated by increasingly demanding performance and commercial certification requirements.

As part of the complete electrification of this aircraft, Heart Aerospace must also address the complexity of the wiring system, or EWIS (Electrical Wiring Interconnect System), while managing the risk associated with regulatory compliance of the unprecedented electrical system.

"Heart Aerospace's adoption of Capital's software, which belongs to Siemens' Xcelerator portfolio, assures the company of the benefits of a solution that allows it to proceed immediately with digitized electrical/electronic system development," says Anthony Nicoli, senior director of Siemens Digital Industries Software's Aerospace & Defense Division. "Siemens is excited to help Heart Aerospace speed up the design of its aircraft so it can meet all the requirements imposed, both performance and certification requirements."

"Heart Aerospace is a young company with an innovative project. We decided to adopt Capital software because it was the only tool, among several we evaluated, to support the creation of all electrical and avionics design documentation related to the system, while also supporting its smooth transmission through all stages of the development process, up to the production of the physical EWIS wiring components," says John Rader, Section Lead Electrical Wiring Interconnect System (EWIS) Engineer, Heart Aerospace. "The improved workflow allows us to focus our attention on the engineering work, rather than on the tool itself; this is largely because the configuration management activities within Capital are both powerful and intuitive. Considering also the presence of the sophisticated additional analysis models offered, such as the one related to voltage drop calculations, as well as the valuable support services available, at Heart Aerospace we are convinced we have made the best choice." Siemens Digital Industries Software helps organizations of all sizes tackle digital transformation using the software, hardware and services of the Siemens Xcelerator business platform. The software offered by Siemens, together with technologies for complete digital twins, enable companies to optimize their design, engineering and manufacturing processes to transform today's ideas into sustainable products of the future.
