Power Integrations recently announced the launch of the InnoSwitch™4-Pro family of digitally controlled, off-line CV/CC zero-voltage switching (ZVS) flyback ICs, which allow power adapters to be significantly reduced in size.
Incorporating a reliable PowiGaN gallium nitride primary switch and with steady-state switching frequencies up to 140 kHz, these high-integration devices enable a reduction in the number of components and area on the circuit board required for ultra-compact adapters designed for cell phones, notebooks, tablets, and multi-port accessories.
As Aditya Kulkarni, product marketing manager at Power Integrations, explains , "InnoSwitch4-Pro ICs interface seamlessly with Power Integrations' ClampZero™ family of active clamping ICs in both conduction modes - continuous (CCM) and discontinuous (DCM). ZVS functionality, combined with our PowiGaN™ technology, virtually eliminates switching losses. Efficiency exceeds 95%, empowering designers to eliminate heatsinks, diffusers and insulating mixtures generally required for thermal management. Adapter size can be further reduced by employing a MinE-CAP™ device in combination with InnoSwitch4-Pro and ClampZero ICs. Also based on PowiGaN technology, the MinE-CAP ICs allow the input capacitance to be reduced by up to 40 percent."
Power Integrations' new products are available from Digi-Key, Farnell, Mouser e RS Components.
