The project for the construction of the railway link and the new High Speed station in Florence, entrusted to Saipem e Pizzarotti, also includes technology SECO.

In fact, the Pizzarotti Monitoring System (PMS) Artificial Intelligence platform for monitoring and managing excavations, infrastructure and smart buildings, which will be used in the project, was born out of the partnership established earlier this year between the Parma-based company and the Arezzo-based firm.

The AI capabilities offered by PMS are made possible by the CLEA platform developed by SECO: Artificial intelligence and machine learning models will be applied to the data streams from the construction site, leveraging geotechnical and engineering methods to support construction workers in managing excavations. This will optimize the entire project by automating processes, reducing costs and monitoring risk factors to increase the safety level of operations. In addition, the examination of soil composition, combined with real-time data analysis, makes it possible to identify in advance, through dedicated predictive models, the presence of possible obstacles during excavation. The processing of this information allows preventive measures to be taken during the works, improving the planning process and optimizing the construction time.

"The world of Smart infrastructures is growing rapidly and this project represents an important result of the work that Pizzarotti and SECO have been doing together in recent months. Weare very happy to be part, alongside Pizzarotti, of the realization of this work that sees the application of the PMS platform, thanks to which we can contribute to making the processes of construction and maintenance of infrastructures and buildings more efficient and safe," said Massimo Mauri, CEO of SECO.

The infrastructure will run about 7 kilometers underground through two parallel tunnels and, along the way, will include the construction of the new station for the Florence Belfiore High Speed Railway.

Carlo Luzzatto, Ceo of Impresa Pizzarotti, says, "The major work of the Florence node rail link will be the field of application for the powerful monitoring platform born from the strong partnership between Pizzarotti and SECO .Artificial intelligence, machine learning, real time and digital model are the keywords of the new smart infrastructure."
