Ecomondo e Key Energy of Italian Exhibition Group recorded +41% in total attendance compared to 2021 (and +15 on the record edition of 2019), also marking a doubling of foreign attendance (from 90 countries) thanks to the internationalization policy launched by IEG in recent years and which attracts new and numerous world visitors to Rimini in the sign of excellence, qualitative and numerical.

From the two events, held Nov. 9-11, the need for our country's economy to focus on green emerged. This was confirmed by both the research dedicated to the "New challenge of ecological transition for Italian companies" presented at the 11th edition of the States General of the Green Economy, promoted by the National Council for the Green Economy, at the opening of Ecomondo, and the study "Disruptive energy scenarios for Italy" for the renewable energy supply chains, at the opening of Key Energy.

Ecomondo and Key Energy represent a true "system," a community, that owes its uniqueness to the virtuous interweaving of the business side of the exhibition, institutional relations at the highest level, from the European Commission through the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security to the Foundation for Sustainable Development and the Supply Chain Consortia, and a very rich and articulated conference calendar that offers visitors and exhibitors the compass to orient themselves in the changes taking place and a constant stimulus for public decision makers to continue on the path of sustainability.

With 86 percent of Italian companies rating the level of attention to the ecological transition as high or good, and with an estimated €24 billion in benefits for consumers between now and 2030 in the wake of renewables development, the Italian economy in the near future will be colored green. Hundreds of stories of innovation brought to the Fair in Rimini by start-ups and exhibiting companies. While on the global action side of the two expos, there are 80 international associations operating in the green economy with which the expos have entered into collaboration agreements; constant commitment to promoting "blue growth" in the Mediterranean area with the case histories of international cooperation projects for the protection of the marine ecosystem and the fight against climate change in the area; finally, with the Africa Green Growth project, the energy autonomy of African countries enters the social sustainability agenda.

1,400 brands exhibitors were present, belonging to the world of made-in-Italy and international technologies for circular bio-economy, waste and wastewater management and valorization, soil and sea regeneration, and sustainable blue growth and hydrogeological risk. Suppliers of solutions and technologies for photovoltaics and storage systems, onshore and offshore wind, energy efficiency in industry and buildings, and electric mobility will also be present.

"At the beginning, Ecomondo had 3 thousand square meters of exhibition space," said Environment and Energy Security Minister Gilberto Pichetto Fratin in his speech at the fair in Rimini. "After 25 years this number has multiplied by 40 to 130 thousand. Numbers that give an idea of the opportunities to be seized both for the future and for technologies that allow us to look at a different energy production."

Ecomondo will return to Rimini Nov. 7-10, 2023, preceded by the first edition of K.EY The Renewable Energy Expo (the spin off from Ecomondo of KEY ENERGY that becomes autonomous, doubling its space) from March 22-24, 2023.
