Toshiba Electronics Europe will exhibit at electronica 2022 (C2.359). With "Passion for Power Solutions" as its unique booth theme, its engineers will present demos and reference models for automotive and industrial applications.

Featured will be advanced motor controls for industrial automation, including robotics, and power conversion with state-of-the-art silicon carbide devices. Among the latter will be a high-efficiency 5 kW bidirectional DC/DC converter with Dual Active Bridge (DAB) architecture that takes advantage of the efficiency and robustness of SiC MOSFETs. In addition, an LED array driven by intelligent MOS for vehicle lighting and an automotive rear-view mirror based on motor drives will show the advances achieved in automotive applications with respect to power and control.

The booth will also display the Motor Control Board Gallery, with more than 30 development boards based on Toshiba's motor control ICs, created through collaboration with embedded systems specialist MIKROE. The gallery contains easy-to-use solutions that help start projects with the most popular motor types, including stepper, DC and brushless motors with different specifications.

Goran Filimonovic, chief engineer at Toshiba Electronics Europe, will instead showcase the latest improvements to the TSN Ethernet specification in a presentation on Nov. 16, 10 a.m.

Armin Derpmanns, General Manager Semiconductor Marketing at Toshiba Electronics Europe said, "Our return to Electronica comes in conjunction with our recent major investments in power semiconductor fabrication and the European High Voltage Laboratory, which strengthen our ability to provide advanced solutions for the conversion, management and utilization of energy-efficient designs."

A photocoupler among the latestĀ

In the summer, Toshiba launched the TLP5222 intelligent gate-driver photocoupler for MOSFETs and IGBTs, with Ā±2.5A output current capability and built-in overcurrent protection with automatic recovery. The TLP5222 continuously monitors the drain-source voltage of the MOSFET (VDS) or the collector-emitter voltage of the IGBT (VCE). If an overcurrent is produced, the driver's built-in protection circuit detects the associated rise in VDS or VCE and gradually shuts down the MOSFET or IGBT. The driver's automatic reset function resumes normal operation, typically 25.5Ī¼s (typ.) after the protection shutdown is activated, and this helps simplify the design of the power stage controller. An isolated pin for FAULT status indicates abnormal overcurrent detection.

The TLP5222 extends Toshiba's family of intelligent gate driver devices that also includes the TLP5212, TLP5214A, and TLP5214, which do not have an automatic reset function and are reset by an external signal.
