Ceva specializes in digital signal processor (DSP) technology and provides artificial intelligence engines, wireless platforms, cryptography cores and software in addition to these. It develops semiconductor intellectual property (IP) core technologies for multimedia and wireless communications, and it is through its technologies that semiconductor manufacturers and OEMs can create energy-efficient, smart, secure, and connected devices for a wide range of end markets: mobile, consumer, automotive, robotics, industrial, aerospace and defense, and IoT. The platform of Ceva thus enables wireless connectivity and intelligence in a multitude of smartphones, consumer electronics, wearables, IoT endpoints, and edge AI devices.

The company announced that chips that include the Ceva IP exceeded 15 billion units in the second quarter of 2022. This is a major milestone, reached as Ceva approaches its 20th anniversary. While the first 10 billion shipments took more than 15 years, the next 5 billion shipments took less than three and a half years.

CEVA's incredibly rapid adoption of IP in the IoT era is a testament to the company's role in democratizing wireless connectivity through the wide adoption of its IP license for 5G, cellular IoT, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and UWB. This effectively lowered the barriers to entry for incorporating wireless connectivity into SoCs, enabling companies to design more cost-effective and energy-efficient chips, which led to the proliferation of wirelessly connected devices that we take for granted today.

Gideon Wertheizer, Ceo of Ceva, said, "Surpassing the milestone of shipping 15 billion chips is a hugely important achievement for Ceva and its customers. The rapid increase we have experienced over the past 3 years directly coincides with the explosion of IoT devices. We have been developing and investing in wireless technologies for two decades, and today Ceva is proud to be at the forefront of wireless connectivity in the IoT era. Moving forward, as devices become smarter and smarter, integrating more sensors and intelligence, our state-of-the-art sensing technologies and artificial intelligence platforms will be key foundations for wireless."
