Taking place at the Milan Convention Center (MiCo) is the European Microwave Week 2022. The event, which will bring together industry and academia in the Lombard capital during the week of Sept. 25-30, includes an exhibition area, three conferences and three forums. We are in the microwave sector, the focus area of the European Microwave Association (EuMA), an international nonprofit association with scientific, educational and technical aims, whose evolution has followed the history of the European Microwave Conference first and the European Microwave Week later.

As for the technology topics covered by EuMW, the range is wide: microwave, millimeter-wave and submillimeter-wave systems; antennas and propagation; wireless; telecommunications (RF, microwave and optical); integrated circuits, semiconductor materials and packaging; radar architectures, systems and subsystems; sensors and remote systems; and test and measurement.

The week is organized around three conferences: the European Microwave Integrated Circuits Conference (EuMIC) from Sept. 26-27, the European Microwave Conference (EuMC) from Sept. 27-29, and the European Radar Conference (EuRAD) from Sept. 28-30. The conferences are then joined by Forums: the Defense, Security and Space Forum, the Automotive Forum and the 5G and Beyond Forum. Finally, from Tuesday to Thursday, the event will also host Europe's largest trade show dedicated to microwave and RF, which will feature more than 300 international exhibitors.

A worldwide event

01_Luca_Perregrini"We are on the 25th anniversary of EuMW, which was first organized in Amsterdam in 1998, combining three conferences on microwave technology, microwave integrated circuits and wireless communication and radar systems. Since then, EuMW has grown steadily, adding new technical activities and events, becoming one of the world's largest events in microwave technologies and the perfect place to meet colleagues, share ideas and make friends." says Luca Perregrini, a professor in the Department of Electrical, Computer and Biomedical Engineering at the'University of Pavia, member of the Board of Directors of the European Microwave Association e General Chair of European Microwave Week 2022.

A new feature of EuMW 2022 is the presence of a keynote talk in the first slot of each technical session, which will feature prominent scientists from both industry and academia enriching the technical program of the conference with their presentations. "There will be a total of 100 technical sessions, " Perregrini further explains. "Traditional topics, such as filters, power amplifiers and antennas, and emerging technologies, such as multiphysics modeling, additive manufacturing, THz systems and automotive radar, will be addressed."
