How to monitor and improve traffic management, an element that, often, compromises the livability of urban centers? A solution that has all the features to manage even urban roads with high traffic volume comes from InnoSenT and is proposed on the Italian market by Consystem. It is, needless to say, a "smart" system with multiple functionalities: traffic statistics, red light crossing control, accident and wrong-way detection, queue length estimation, traffic light and intersection management, and stop bar detection.

It is called iSYS-5220 and is a device that is part of the 4D MIMO (Multiple In Multiple Out) Radar family from InnoSenT, precisely, a German company with recognized expertise in radar and monitoring solutions for Security and IoT. It is an FMCW (Frequency-Modulated Continuous Wave radar) radar system operating in the 24 GHz ISM band, designed and optimized for traffic monitoring and road intersection management that, with a detection range of up to 350m, records presence, movement, speed, direction, distance and angle of vehicles, managing to track even stationary vehicles and pedestrians. Specifically, it can detect up to 128 targets simultaneously, thanks to a tracking function that provides information on movement history, and ensures that vehicles are not lost, even in heavy traffic situations. The technology of this radar system allows it to divide vehicles into four classes (cars, vans, trucks and non-motorized) and detect their lane up to a maximum of 16 simultaneously detectable lanes.

As they explain at Consystem, "Compared to other radar devices dedicated to traffic monitoring on the market, InnoSenT's product stands out significantly in terms of both the quality of the data collected and the differentiation of objects. In fact, the angular resolution ensures unambiguous detection, differentiation and localization of objects in real time. Advantages, which are especially evident in heavy traffic situations. We can say that with the iSYS-5220, InnoSenT sets a new technological standard for traffic and road intersection monitoring that integrates perfectly with the emerging and ever-present Smart City concept."
