In 1936, Otto Dunkel had the idea of producing spring contacts without disturbances. Six years later, in 1942, came ODU, today an internationally operating specialist contact manufacturer with over 2,500 employees between its headquarters in Mühldorf am Inn and production sites in Romania, the USA, Mexico and China.

Odu today, a beautiful 80-year-old woman
Even 80 years after its foundation, the company is still expanding and is investing almost 60 million euros in its headquarters alone. With the new five-storey turning, workshop and office building, ODU is expanding in height for the first time. Other production facilities and logistics warehouses are located in Sibiu / Romania, Shanghai / China, Tijuana / Mexico and Camarillo / USA. The company unites under one roof all relevant competencies and key technologies for design and development, tool and special machine construction, injection moulding, punching, turning, surface finishing, assembly and cable packaging. The ODU Group has a global product presence and an international sales network. This includes own sales companies in China, Korea, Denmark, France, Germany, Japan, Italy, Hong-Kong, UK, Romania, USA and Sweden as well as numerous distribution partners worldwide. ODU connectors are used in numerous application areas that require reliable transmission of power, signals, data and fluids, in the medical, military, communications, security, and automotive sectors, as well as in industrial electronics and test and measurement technology. The 80th anniversary celebrations are scheduled for 22 July.
