Socomec, a company founded by Joseph Siat, celebrates 100 years since its foundation and joins the small circle of secular French companies. Ivan Steyert, current CEO of the Socomec Group, explains: ".Socomec is now a young centenarian! This is a source of great pride, because few companies reach such an age while remaining so solid and family-run. Over the last 100 years we have experienced war, economic and political crises on a global scale and have had to face new challenges in terms of sustainability and environmental impact. However, we have always been able to adapt and reinvent ourselves without giving up our values of independence, innovation and responsibility.."

With a century of history behind it and a culture based on continuous research and innovation, it is not surprising that Socomec has never stopped raising the bar, even during the last few years that have put a strain on companies around the world. "Over the last century, incredibly sophisticated electrical and electronic devices have been developed to meet the security and continuity needs of critical installations such as data centres, airports, healthcare facilities and industrial infrastructure, from smart switches to modular measurement systems to UPSs. More recently, we have developed state-of-the-art energy storage systems to support the energy transition and the increasing use of renewable energy. In every critical context, whether it is supplying power and light or ensuring the continuity of services, Socomec offers innovative solutions specifically designed for these vital installations", says Steyert.

The relationship of trust and collaboration with customers has always been a key factor in the company's success over the last 100 years. "Socomec's customers are involved at every stage of the conception and development process. Ours is a highly collaborative approach, enabling us to provide them with exactly what they need, while reducing development risks and speeding up time-to-market."Steyert points out.

The centenary celebrations will continue throughout the year and Socomec will give employees the opportunity to complete 100 challenges challenges that will result in as many charitable donations. These are individual and team competitions in which people working in the company's various divisions around the world will participate. Each challenge completed will help improve the lives of some of the world's poorest people, helping them to address inequalities in the availability of electricity and water, making these vital services the platform for wider economic development. In particular, Socomec will contribute to the cost of providing electricity to schools and health centres in rural municipalities in northern Madagascar.

In Italy, a representation of the company took part in the cycling challenge which involved Socomec sites throughout Europe between 18 and 25 June: the Italian team set off from Isola Vicentina and cycled to the Benfeld site along a route of over 800 kilometres.

At the Leonardo da Vinci National Museum of Science and Technology in Milan, Socomec organised a meeting to retrace with customers and partners the stages of the company's journey from 1922 to the present day and to present the new challenges to be faced and the goals the company intends to achieve in the future.

A Septemberanother one event at Socomec headquarters in Isola Vicentina will involve employees and their families.

"We firmly believe that by maintaining control of all aspects of energy design, production and use, it is possible to create reliable and sustainable solutions for a better future for all of us"Ivan Steyert concludes.
