Focus on PCB - From Design to Assembly, the first European trade fair dedicated to operators in the PCB (Printed Circuit Board), PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assembly) and EMS (Electronics Manufacturing Services) world, opened yesterday morning in Vicenza.

Fifty-nine operators from the world of printed circuit boards from all over Italy and abroad have arrived in the Veneto city, in addition to start-ups and numerous guests at the tech talks taking place in the Convention and Workshop areas of the pavilion.

The inauguration was attended by NürnbergMesse CEO Peter Ottmann and the mayor of Vicenza Francesco Rucco, with Luca Giovelli of Assodel's PCB Group and Gabriele Braga of ANIE Electronic Components, who emphasised their enthusiasm for an unprecedented event that adds to the annual B2B panorama.

"Trade fairs are visions that become reality. They are an engine for innovations, platforms for exchange and powerful signals that underline the confidence in the future of an entire industry," says Peter Ottmann, CEO of NürnbergMesse. "At the same time, an event such as Focus on PCB, which adds to our portfolio of more than 100 trade fairs, is an invitation to everyone in Italy, Europe and around the world to join this signal, to participate with us and to make it stronger."

At a time when the electronics industry is at the centre of attention all over the world due to the difficulty of supplying components that are indispensable for the proper functioning of numerous industrial supply chains, the realisation that investing in new chip factories is to be considered strategic has also matured in Europe . Since printed circuit boards are the indispensable element for housing and operating chips, it is equally important for the PCB supply chain to be able to intercept this new scenario and react accordingly.

The electronics distribution sector in Italy is a sector that, according to data released by the Assodel Observatory, last year produced a turnover of EUR 1.495 billion, +26.1% compared to 2020. This is in spite of the challenges for electronics companies, which have to deal daily with the procurement of raw materials and components and slowdowns in the supply chain, as well as actively engage in the sector's green transition towards a more sustainable production with a view to the circular economy.

Among the topics at the heart of the event: sustainability, regulatory standards, intelligent use of resources and innovative materials for electronic board production.
