In this scenario, there is a growing demand in the electronics industry for technologies that meet the needs of the fast-charging market. In fast and superfast recharging stations, a crucial and often "inconspicuous" element is the Emi filter. Both inlet and outlet.

The importance of Emi filters

The three-phase input for DC fast chargers requires multiple phases of power conversion. This can introduce considerable electromagnetic interference into the systems, which makes compliance with emission regulations complex. On the output side, electromagnetic disturbances can also lead to compliance problems for the entire system and force very costly (in terms of money and time) redesigns. In this respect, there is a growing demand for EMI filters that can ensure the proper operation, safety and compliance of electric (superfast) power stations. Astrodyne, an American multinational company specialising in power supply and power management, responds to this demand for safety and efficiency with a broad portfolio of high-efficiency, high-performance solutions in a compact size.

Tells us about it Consystem, a distributor with a long experience in the Power Supply sector, which has a consolidated partnership with Astrodyne on the Italian territory. Thanks to Consystem's experience in the automotive sector and Astrodyne's technical know-how and advanced and specialised solutions, this collaboration allows customers to obtain specialised technical support in the choice of the most suitable Emi filters for the various existing charging modes and new applications.

Astrodyne's new Ev-charger solution

Astrodyne TDI's RP695 series is a high-current dual-stage Emi/Emc filter offering operating up to 1500 Vdc. RP695 filters are currently offered with current ratings of 450 A, 600 A, 1000 A and 1600 A and selectable Y-capacitor values from 0 to 2000 nF (customisable on request). In addition, the series has an insulation rating of 6000 Vdc and is also characterised by its compact dimensions: from 122x260x128 mm up to 140x316x130 mm. Thanks to these features, this series can simplify design-in and be installed where space is critical, while ensuring full compliance, safety and system effectiveness. The solution can be used in photovoltaic systems, industrial inverters and many other applications thanks to a wide operating temperature range. The series is also available with a busbar option.
