The sixteenth edition of A&T closed on 8 April. International A&T Fair, which registered encouraging numbers: 16 thousand visitors, 400 exhibitors from all over Italy, more than 4 thousand technologies presented and tested by the public, 3 major events, 8 conferences, 14 round tables, 42 specialist workshops, more than 70 media and journalists accredited and visited during the three days of the event.

"Planning this new edition was not easy, as it was like organising the zero edition of A&T, there is a before and after pandemic to consider. We were positively surprised by the numbers, the companies took part with great enthusiasm and optimism, and we had no difficulty in organising a programme of the highest quality. The public rewarded our efforts, confirming that what companies need more than ever today is concreteness and sharing. Amongthe stands in the Lingotto Oval, in front of the big screens, in the workshop squares, the desire to throw our hearts over the obstacle was perceived, working together to grow in terms of competitiveness and culture, and innovation is the perfect synthesis of this," declared Luciano Malgaroli, CEO of the A&T Fair.

Through the exhibition of the latest industrial technologies and a programme of content tailored to the real needs of businesses, the event sends a clear message to the country system and institutions: entrepreneurs demand concreteness!

The event succeeded in combining the exhibition of technologies with the transfer of knowledge and industrial experience, a model of content sharing that allowed visitors to understand the use and application of machines, solutions and innovative projects, with reference to the specific needs of each individual entrepreneur. The added value of A&T lies in its aggregating vocation, in creating a system between supply chains, operators, entrepreneurs, institutions, schools and representative organisations. The exhibition has thus confirmed its role as a credible interlocutor, committed to connecting the market, technologies and companies and translating trends, figures, data and analyses into concrete, immediately applicable proposals.

Innovation 4.0 award goes to healthcare project

Jolanda Luongo, 30, from Soiano del Lago, in the province of Verona, is the winner of the sixth edition of the Innovation 4.0 Award promoted by A&T's Industrial Scientific Committee during the ceremony that closed the three-day event in Turin.

The research project chosen as the most innovative in Italy falls within the field of health diagnostics: Avio-TC is a mobile airborne unit that can be transported by air, or even by road, and is immediately ready for use as soon as it reaches its destination. The idea, first presented by the young student when discussing her degree thesis at the University of Verona, immediately attracted a great deal of attention thanks to its highly innovative nature, which effectively overturns the concept of healthcare services: diagnostics at the patient's home.

The solution involves a mobile CT unit thanks to an integrated floor, allowing diagnostic examinations to be carried out in conditions and locations that are not easy to access or land in, such as war zones or those disrupted by natural disasters. It is an airborne technology, with the possibility of performing the examination directly on board the aircraft, parked in airport parking areas or on emergency landing fields.

The object of study will soon become a patent with the aim of creating a mobile CT unit and bringing the diagnostic room directly to the patient, outside the hospital context. The winner received as an award an object made by Prima Additive (Business Unit of Prima Industrie Group) through 3D printing technology.

Innovation on show

The stage of the Innovation 4.0 Award saw the nine finalists as the absolute stars, the national expression of an innovative vision that has no geographical or industrial boundaries. Speakers in the company category were Fulvio Bresciani of THALES ALENIA SPACE with the O2D Optical Odometry Device project; Lorenzo Iemma of Carmali with Instant water heating by means of an induction system for the production of drinks at the desired temperature; Simone Iannelli presented &Ever and Modula conquering Asia with 100% automatic strawberry cultivation.

Research Centres and Universities brought Miledi MiLEDi - Micro quantum dot Light emitting diode/Organic light emitting diode direct patterning illustrated by Francesco Antolini from ENEA; Eleonora Bruschi from Milan Polytechnic exhibited AIDA - Anti-seismic, Innovative, Durable, Affordable. The start-up category featured INSPECT in-line lab - The innovative rapid food testing system for non-destructive chemical analysis in-line with Luca Bernardino Veneziani; MEDERE's made-to-measure orthotics directly from home with just your smartphone were described by Marco Mennisi; and ROBOSAN, the first robotic system for sanitising, tracking and packaging primary containers of biological samples was presented by Stanislao Grazioso.

The National Competence Centres offered all finalists a voucher for services and training activities with a guaranteed 50% discount, and the three finalist start-ups received a TAG Flex from the Talent Garden Fondazione Agnelli of Turin.
