Analog Devices e Gridspertise, the new subsidiary of Enel Group which provides solutions to Distribution System Operators (DSOs), announce a collaboration that aims to develop the resilience and quality of smart grids worldwide.

Enel launched Gridspertise in September 2021; the company leverages Enel's expertise in developing, testing and extending best-of-breed technologies to manage smart grids around the world and provides innovative digital solutions for transforming electricity distribution networks in three main areas: metering and grid edge digitization, grid infrastructure digitization, and field operations digitization. It operates in Europe and Latin America and aims to expand into North America and Asia-Pacific.

The collaboration enables the development of new HW and SW solutions that allow thedistribution network to self-repair and adapt in response to major changes in energy demand and supply, including the connection of renewable energy sources.

The collaboration builds on the long-term relationship of more than fifteen years between the two companies in the development of smart meters and grid digitization solutions. Today, Analog Devices is working with Gridspertise to release measurement and monitoring systems that enable even higher precision and accuracy with real-time data. The result is superior grid reliability through faster response times, greater resilience, and improved quality of service for customers, while enabling utilities to improve their operational efficiency, make a rapid transition to clean energy, and enable flexible services. Shared technology developments are designed to reinforce existing infrastructures, located in different regions and with different service times, without requiring costly reinstallation; they also minimise the environmental impact of assets by making digitisation a key factor in a more sustainable electricity distribution network.

"Leveraging an open approach to innovation, Gridspertise collaborates with key players across industries to industrialise and release the most advanced HW and SW solutions on the market for electricity grid digitisation, supporting DSOs around the world in accelerating the energy transition," said Robert Denda, CEO of Gridspertise. "We are excited about our partnership with ADI, following in Enel's footsteps. We look forward to continuing to offer the latest edge technologies for the grid that enable operators to better manage aggregate demand from residential and commercial buildings and support the future of the energy system where customers become professional users."

Analog Devices' power and precision technologies provide performance enhancements for analog-to-digital conversion, protection, precision measurement, metrology and isolation for the QED - Quantum Edge® device, Gridspertise's solution at the heart of secondary substation digitization. This solution is the first in the industry to fully virtualise the physical components of secondary substations, transforming them into customisable edge applications, enabling new use cases and improved management of key grid functionality.

"Our technologies span the entire electrification ecosystem, from vehicles to energy storage and charging stations, and today they are becoming increasingly important to the electric distribution grid, where precision measurements and digitization are essential to ensure greater flexibility and resilience," said Patrick Morgan, Corporate Vice President Automotive Electrification and Sustainable Energy at Analog Devices. "We are pleased to expand our collaboration with Gridspertise on future generations of advanced energy measurement, isolation, control and sensor systems."
