Marellione of the world's largest independent automotive suppliers, has chosen RS Components as a strategic RS Components one of its strategic suppliers to meet the needs dictated by rapid business growth. Officially founded in 2019 from the merger of Italy's Magneti Marelli and Japan's Calsonic Kansei, Marelli brings the extraordinary industrial experience and manufacturing excellence of the two automotive giants to the global market, aiming to transform the future of mobility according to criteria of safety, sustainability and extended connectivity.
As part of Marelli's corporate mission, aimed at raising the bar of the service offered, the need to innovate the digital platform for supply management is part of it. A winning response to this need has come from RS Components, a global omnichannel distributor of industrial solutions and services, which has entered the first phase of the rationalisation process of indirect suppliers in the MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Operations) area.
In order to provide direct access to products, technical data, images and stock availability, a Punch-Out solution has been implemented that provides a secure link to RS's e-commerce site, within the customer's eProcurement module. Using Punch-Out, Marelli's users can create a shopping cart by navigating directly to RS's online shop. Once the cart is completed, it becomes a purchase request which - via an internal approval flow - becomes an order, which arrives directly at RS. This new streamlined process has significantly reduced order processing times, while maintaining end-user autonomy in making purchases. In Italy, the implementation of Punch-Out's solution was only the first step of a collaboration that in a little more than a year has been extended to the rest of the European countries where Marelli operates.
Alongside the supply of a system for online management of orders in real time and the related technical support for optimisation of digital processes, RS Components has added the availability of a set of value-added services to ensure maximum operational efficiency. Timeliness in the search and supply of industrial products requested by end customers through the digital platform, continuous updating of the dynamic catalogue on the RS website to which Marelli has access and of the related reports, constant control of expenses and strategic consulting have been the guidelines of a winning collaboration model that has generated positive effects in terms of efficiency. "We are particularly proud to be working alongside a company like Marelli, with whom we share a drive for innovation, solid industrial experience and a focus on sustainability issues. Our commitment to our clients has always been aimed at building a strategic partnership, based on business as well as technological consulting, with a customised approach depending on the specificities of the company. This is what we have done and continue to do with Marelli, ensuring constant support both in the implementation of the e-procurement solution and in responding promptly to the needs of a business in constant evolution," he said. Diego Comella, Managing Director of RS Components Italia. "We are confident that the successful model created in Italy will allow a consolidation of our Group's relationships with the other 12 countries where Marelli operates".
