onsemi è has been nominated for the Innovation Awards at CES 2022 for its 8.3 megapixel (MP) AR0820AT digital CMOS image sensor. The CES Innovation Awards programme, owned and produced by the CES. Consumer Technology Association (CTA)is an annual competition that celebrates outstanding design and engineering in 27 consumer technology product categories. The onsemi digital image sensor developed for automotive applications was entered in the Vehicle Intelligence and Transportationcategory.

"We are thrilled to be recognised by the CTA and our customers for driving valuable innovations in intelligent sensing technologies," said Ross Jatou, senior vice president, Intelligent Sensing Group at onsemi. "Our mission is to improve the automotive mobility experience and promote active safety to enable fully autonomous driving."

The AR0820AT image sensor is optimised for both low-light and high dynamic range (HDR) scenes, with a 2.1 μm DR-Pix BSI pixel and 140 dB on-chip HDR capture capability. The sensor includes advanced features such as in-pixel binning, windowing and video and single frame modes to provide a flexible region of interest (ROI). Higher resolution allows the system to detect and identify smaller objects and other hazards at a greater distance, allowing the vehicle to alert the driver or act sooner to avoid, thus improving road safety. The advanced fault detection functions and data embedded in the AR0820AT are key to enabling ASIL B compliant cameras that are critical for higher levels of range.

CES 2022 will take place digitally and in presence in Las Vegas from 5 to 8 January.
