Farnell has announced the launch of its new Industrial Embedded Computers online hub, an online resource that will provide design engineers with the most up-to-date information on industrial single board computers (SBCs) used in Internet of Things (IoT) and edge computing environments.

Farnell's new Industrial Embedded Computers online hub offers a comprehensive range of technical resources including articles, application notes, guides, projects and training modules, videos and eBooks. Visitors can also access Farnell's innovative range of online calculators, conversion charts and component selection tools available from the Technical Resource Centre.

To ensure easy navigation, the hub includes pages highlighting market-leading products from leading suppliers, such as Raspberry Pi, Intel, Xilinx, NXP, Arduino, Beagleboard, Industrial Shields, KUNBUS and Wittra. Visitors can easily examine the main features of the products and view the complete range. Complementary application pages allow designers to drill down into specific areas, such as industrial automation and control and IoT in fields like agriculture, automotive, maintenance, edge computing and more.

A recent global survey by Farnell illustrates the widespread adoption of low-cost SBCs by engineers working in IoT and industrial environments, with around 50 per cent of respondents saying they use SBCs in these two categories. According to the survey, single board computers (SBCs) are being adopted at all stages of product development and manufacturing, from proof-of-concept through prototyping to production and test equipment.

Roman Soreau, Head of Single Board Computers at Farnell, said: "Today's industrial embedded computers offer a powerful combination of high performance, versatility, functionality and accessories. Combined with their low cost and large community of active users, these development platforms are attractive to designers who are committed to developing and deploying a wide range of industrial applications in the shortest possible time. Our new Industrial Embedded Computers online hub will help our customers keep pace with new technological advances. It is a simple, easy-to-use platform that brings together all of our best-selling products, technical resources and application examples in one place, so engineers can focus on innovation and easily overcome design challenges."
