Rohm e Geely Automobile Groupone of China's leading automakers, have entered into a strategic partnership to develop advanced automotive technologies.

The two companies have been collaborating on a variety of automotive applications since 2018, when they first agreed to carry out a technical exchange. The recently signed partnership is expected to further promote cooperation and accelerate innovation for automotive applications.

Geely is working to extend the range of electric vehicles, while reducing battery costs and shortening charging times, by developing high-efficiency traction inverters and on-board charging systems that adopt Rohm's advanced power solutions centered around SiC power devices. At the same time, Geely is committed to improving the user experience through the development of high-performance ADAS and intelligent cockpit systems using a wide range of products and solutions, including communications ICs and discrete devices.

As a first step, traction inverters equipped with Rohm SiC power devices are being integrated into electric vehicle platforms currently under development by Geely. Through this partnership, the two companies will contribute to sustainability, promoting the development of low-carbon technologies in the automotive industry and offering solutions to achieve greater safety in our increasingly mobile society.

Rohm has a long-standing commitment to e-mobility, contributing to the optimisation of energy consumption with its own solutions, and has a strong focus on SiC power devices, which are increasingly used in in-vehicle chargers and DC/DC converters due to their ability to reduce switching and conduction losses and operate at high temperatures.
