There is a standard to follow for Innovation Management

The first edition of the Innovation Management Forum was held on 16 June.Innovation Management Forumorganised by Flavio Ubezio, founder of the ISO56002.IT project, a body recognised in Italy as a forerunner in innovation management, structured according to the international ISO 56000 standards. At the heart of the initiative is the issue of innovation management, which is becoming increasingly urgent for Italian industry.

"Today, governing innovation in a company requires a structured process, a precise organisation and a strategic orientation," said Ubezio. "What is new is that it can now be done - and the market will increasingly lead in this direction - according to the principles and guidelines of certain international standards known as ISO 56000. There are now internationally recognised guidelines on which to base effective innovation. This is marking the beginning of an era.

The imminent introduction of the ISO 56001 standard will also facilitate the development of a culture of innovation in small businesses. "The hope is that the consultants who support this important segment of the Italian economy will be able to convey the value of such operations by highlighting the potential of innovation management so that it is not only the compulsory aspect of the new rules that emerges, " adds Ubezio.

The publication of the ISO 56002 standard in 2019 inspired Flavio Ubezio's project. The standard provides internationally recognised guidelines for the design and implementation of innovation management systems and marked the beginning of a new era towards a more transparent and accessible structured corporate innovation management. In fact, it consolidated the good practices of structured innovation management that had been widespread in companies for a decade, with the great advantage of having them now codified in a common reference that rewards a holistic approach to the subject. The experience in the field supporting companies in the implementation of innovation management systems and the deep knowledge of the ISO 56002 paradigm have allowed Flavio Ubezio and his team to become the point of reference in Italy in training and consulting on ISO 56002 systems.

Innovation management and comparison of experiences

At the beginning of the conference, the topic 'Innovation management: from a managerial practice reserved to corporations to an open source code' was discussed, with the testimonials and experiences of Simone Cascioli, Head of HSE, Sustainability, Innovation at Liquigas; Federico Piutti, Innovation manager at Bormioli Pharma and Claudio Migliavacca, Head of Innovation Factory at Agos Ducato. A second round table saw the innovation managers of Eurostampa, VEM Sistemi and Byologix discuss the theme 'Can our excellences benefit from a structured approach to innovation management? The Forum concluded with the contribution of Graziano Marcuccio, Chief Human Resources Officer of De Nora, on the theme 'The new managerial leadership to innovate'.
