Socomec Medsys: guaranteed energy for healthcare facilities

In an environment such as a hospital, continuity of power supply is essential. To respond specifically to the needs of this sector, Socomec has developed the Medsys medical switchboards.

Socomec offers the hospital sector the Medsys series of switchboards, which can be used to supply type 2 medical premises. As required by the CEI 64-8 v2 part 710 standard, the Medsys 30 switchboard incorporates an electromechanical switch with a tripping time of less than 0.5 seconds, or a static switch (Medsys 40) with an instantaneous tripping time (0 seconds); a special version with an integrated 10 kVA UPS (Medsys 60) is also available.

All Medsys switchboards are fanless, i.e. they are naturally ventilated and expel the hot air from the top: a critical element, usually prone to failure or breakdown, has therefore been eliminated in their design.

All panels can be equipped with 1 or 2 isolation transformers of 5 / 7,5 / 10 kVA. For each transformer there is a permanent insulation controller that can manage up to 3 remote panels. On request it is possible to insert in the switchboard a fault localization system able to identify (and also to signal in advance) which line has caused the fault or is losing the insulation.

Where Socomec managers are employed

Throughout the world, a number of leading healthcare centres have chosen Socomec as their partner to ensure quality and continuity of power. For example, in 2006, Socomec won an initial contract with the University Hospitals Trust of Strasbourg for an electrical panel for medical applications at the New Civil Hospital, one of the Trust's hospital sites.

As a partner in the construction project for the new Hospital and Musculoskeletal Technology Unit and the new Regional Cancer Institute in the Hautepierre district, Socomec also supplied 39 Medsys 60 medical switchboards to ensure continuity of power supply to the operating theatres.

Another example of Socomec's presence in this field is the Colmar Hospital, in the Haut-Rhin area, equipped with Medsys medical switchboards.
