Mise authorises an innovation agreement involving ST, FCA and Comau

The Minister for Economic Development Giancarlo Giorgetti has recently signed the decree authorising the Agreement for Innovation with the regions of Lombardy and Sicily for the implementation of a research and development project in microelectronics

"MADEin4" is a project presented by STMicroelectronics, FCA Italy, Comau, Polytechnic of Turin e CNR Institute for Microelectronics and Microsystems, aimed at improving manufacturing productivity, in line with the objectives of the Industry 4.0 plan, through innovative techniques and tools that allow business processes to be managed and monitored in real time, guaranteeing precision and accuracy in the product manufacturing phases.

In recent days, the Minister for Economic Development, Giancarlo Giorgetti, has signed the decree authorising the Agreement for Innovation with the regions of Lombardy and Sicily for the implementation of 'MADEin4'.

Due to its high technological impact, the project has been selected by the EU as part of the ECSEL JU 2018 call (Electronics Components and Systems for European Leadership), which is the cornerstone of Europe's industrial strategy in the field ofelectronics.

STMicroelectronics, FCA Italy and Comau will thus increase the competitiveness and efficiency of the production systems at the Catania, Agrate (Monza and Brianza) and Grugliasco (Turin) sites, guaranteeing the employment of the workers. The agreement provides for a total investment of more than EUR 18.7 million, for which Mise will make available EUR 5.6 million in subsidised loans, while around EUR 4 million will come from European funding.
