Opens March 1, in an all-digital format, Embedded World 2021. After a 2020 edition strongly affected by the pandemic emergency, which just in those days of February began to spread in Europe, the event of reference for embedded electronics and displays is divided this year in five days and offers over 200 presentations available online. All sessions will be recorded and can be viewed up to two weeks after the live stage of the event. As usual, there are two main conferences: theEmbedded World Conference and theElectronic Displays Conference.

Five high-level keynotes at Embedded World

From Nüremberg Messe promise "professional competence and topicality, a global interdisciplinary approach, an international focus and diversity" also for this virtual edition. The keynotes, one per day, will be of great interest and will feature well-known personalities from the electronics industry: they begin on March 1st with Reinhard Ploss, CEO of Infineon, and continue with Peter Liggesmeyer, professor at the Technical University of Kaiserslautern and the Fraunhofer Institute, Paul Gray, Senior Research Manager of Omdia (part of Informa Technology), Randall Restle, strategic advisor to Digi-Keyand Kevin Dallas, CEO of Wind River.

The themes of the Embedded World Conference

"Embedded systems are an interdisciplinary technology covering many aspects. Thetopics to be discussed are therefore wide-ranging: the Internet of Things, hardware, software and systems engineering, safety and security, SoC design, vision, human-computer interaction, wireless," explains Professor Axel Sikora from the University of Offenburg, who is chairing the Embedded World Conference ."Software and systems engineering will as always be an important part of the conference, with presentations every day, while another mainstay is the Internet of Things category, which can now be called a megatrend in the embedded industry. Equally relevant is the topic of Autonomous Systems, which also includes Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. We are therefore talking about technologies that are increasingly moving from the research and prototype phase to the practical application phase". Other topics of interest are the development of specific chips for certain applications, embedded vision systems, human-machine interfaces.

Themes of the Electronic Displays Conference

"The Electronic Displays Conference is undoubtedly Europe's most important B2B platform for display technologies, demonstrating the innovative strength and dynamism of the display industry," says Professor Karlheinz Blankenbach of the University of Pforzheim, who chairs the conference's advisory board. The event will once again underline the importance of displays as important innovative components of embedded systems. Highlights in this edition will include several keynotes on display markets and new technologies and applications, as well as several sessions on automotive displays. Other presentations will include micro-LEDs, OLEDs, touch screens, gesture-based controls and touch interfaces, measurement technology and display optimization.

Electronics players at Embedded World

The first keynote of the 2021 edition of Embedded World features InfineonInfineon Technologies, with a speech by its CEO Reinhard Ploss . Following the acquisition of Cypress in 2020, Infineon Technologies has positioned itself among the world's top 10 semiconductor manufacturers and Embedded World sees it participating for the first time with a broader product portfolio than ever before.
