The annual workshop of the Intelligent Factory Cluster (IFC) is entitled 'Producing a Sustainable Resilient Country: the Innovation Challenges of the Manufacturing Sector'. Intelligent Factory Cluster (CFI) annual workshop on 5 February. The two sessions in which the workshop is divided, morning and afternoon, are moderated by Filippo Astone, director of Industria Italiana, and see the interventions, among others, of: Luca Manuelli, president of CFI and Ceo Ansaldo Nucleare, Tullio Tolio (President CTS CFI), Diego Andreis (AFIL), Andrea Bianchi (Invitalia), Marco Bentivogli (Base Italia), Elio Catania (MISE), Maurizio Marchesini (Confindustria), Agostino Santoni (Cisco) and Marco Taisch (Made Competence Center).

The Intelligent Factory Cluster is an association founded in 2012. Recognised by the Ministry of Scientific Research, its aim is to implement a strategy based on research and innovation for the competitiveness of Italian manufacturing. It is the only table at which all stakeholders involved in the fate of Italian industry sit simultaneously: companies, business associations, regions, universities and research bodies, institutions.

In 2015, the Cluster prepared the first Innovation Roadmap in the manufacturing sector; in 2017, the Ministry of Economic Development entrusted the Cluster with the task of supporting the selection of the first Lighthouse Plants, excellent factories already operational and "ready" to develop an articulated and innovative project to become smart factories, through the use of technologies addressed by the Industry 4.0 Plan including big data, IoT and artificial intelligence, also to enable new business models, supply chain integration and the involvement of the Open Innovation world.

During the meeting, in addition to presenting a review of the 2020 results and the main challenges of the Intelligent Factory Cluster in 2021, the latest developments in the field of smart, resilient and sustainable factories and related enabling technologies will be illustrated, and the proposal "Producing a Resilient Countryaddressed to policy makers on how to make industrial resilience a systemic and widespread feature in Italy.
