KemetYageo Group Kemet is a supplier of ceramic and tantalum capacitors used in mission critical applications in the defense, aerospace and avionics sectors.

From his perspective, while the commercial avionics market in 2020 took a hit, the defense sector held up because many programs were already funded and running, both in the U.S. and Europe. "Asprocessing speeds increase and additional capabilities are needed, we are being asked for smaller and smaller components that can operate at higher frequencies. In addition to miniaturization, the adoption of GaN technology is creating a demand for components at higher operating voltages and temperatures. MIL-PRF-32535 specifications, COTS components and other Hi-Rel alternatives also play a substantial role," he says of the trends shaping demand for electronics in the aerospace and defense sector.

The Yageo Group manager also mentions the growing interest in sustainability, which also sees electronics suppliers playing their part: "We need to contribute by using resources from sustainable supply chains and reducing energy consumption in product design and manufacturing. Kemet offers a full range of products that meet popular environmental standards, such as RoHS and REACH, and is committed to long-term sustainability."
