Molex acquires Fiberguide Industries and strengthens fiber optic business

Fiberguide Industries is to become part of the Polymicro business of Phoenix-based Molex, a provider of specialty fibre optic and custom fluidic products for medical, industrial and datacom applications.

Molex has announced the acquisition of Fiberguide Industriesa manufacturer of custom fiber optic solutions based in Caldwell, Idaho. The company will become part of the Polymicro business, a Phoenix-based supplier of specialty fiber optic and custom fluidic products for medical, industrial and datacom applications, which Molex acquired in 2007. "Today, Molex is setting a new standard of excellence in the industry while fulfilling our vision of becoming the leading supplier of specialty fiber optic products," said Jim Clarkin, GM of Polymicro.

Fiberguide is uniquely positioned to help Molex meet the rigorous demands of medical applications, including high-power laser surgery, DNA sequencing and flow cytometry. "Fiberguide has over 40 years of technology innovation," said Devinder Saini, Ph.D., VP of Technology for Fiberguide. "We share similar cultures and are united in our goal to provide the most powerful and vertically integrated fibre solutions available."

Molex will develop fibre optic centres of excellence in Phoenix and Caldwell to support new business opportunities from concept to production. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
