ON Semiconductor announced in recent days that Hassane El-Khoury will be its new president and CEO.
Alan Campbell, chairman of the board of directors, announced the news: "The objective of our search was to identify an experienced CEO who would understand the ongoing transformation of our industry and expand our leadership position in target growth markets, accelerate revenue, gross margin and profit growth, and enhance stakeholder value. Hassane emerged as an undisputed and qualified leader."

For his part, El-Khoury commented: "I am excited to be working for a company that is able to provide advanced systems solutions for the automotive, industrial, cloud, power and IoT markets, while improving financial performance".

After emigrating to the United States from Lebanon at the age of 17, El-Khoury earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Lawrence Technological University and a master's degree in engineering management from Oakland University. Prior to joining ON Semiconductor, El-Khoury served as president, chief executive officer and board member of Cypress Semiconductor until its sale to Infineon in April 2020. He held various roles from product development to applications engineering and business development during his thirteen years at Cypress.

El-Khoury's appointment coincides with Keith Jackson's retirement as CEO and president of ON Semiconductor and as a member of the board of directors. Jackson will ensure the transition by offering his advice to the company until the end of May 2021. "During his nearly two decades at the helm, Keith has transformed ON Semiconductor from a $1.2 billion supplier of standard products into one of the world's top twenty semiconductor companies, with $5.5 billion in revenue," concluded Alan Campbell.
