At SPS Digital days, speech by the President of ANIE Automazione at the round table "The restarting industry: digital and automation at the service of resilience and competitiveness".

The President of ANIE Automazione, Fabrizio Scovenna, during the opening round table of the SPS Digital Days event, outlined a picture of the industry's performance in the first half of 2020 and commented on the Ministry of Development's plans for the Recovery Plan and the relaunch of the industry. His speech showed how the Italianautomation industry could close 2020 with a 15% drop in turnover after "an extremely marked slump" in the first six months of the year (17% per year according to preliminary figures). This, after "a timid slowdown recorded in 2019".

According to Mr Scovenna, theautomation sector felt theimpact of the lockdown to a greater or lesser extent depending on the target market for the technologies. Some sectors (e.g. pharmaceuticals or food) have held up, but many others have suffered significant losses. In particular, the non-delivery of machines due to anti-Covid-19 restrictions has led to a lack of liquidity for supplier companies." "The situation is evolving and will require important contributions from all socio-economic components."

Particularly at this stage, it becomes 'crucial to reprogramme government plans to support the industry's digital transition, both in terms of time planning and in terms of strengthening the rates governing tax deductions'.
