Murata is expanding its Type 1RM line of miniature, low-power MICS (Medical Implant Communication System) radio-band modules with the addition of the LBAA0PC1RMH298, a module operating in the 402 to 405 MHz frequency range. Capable of supporting data transfer rates of 128 kbps, the new module can communicate at a distance of up to 2 m.
One module for several medical applications
Designed for use in diagnostic and monitoring devices, both wearable and implantable, this module can be used in data-intensive applications. Typical applications include insulin pumps, drugs and baclofen, as well as arrhythmia and bladder monitoringdevices.
With a very compact size of only 8.6×5.6×1.7 mm, this module is undoubtedly one of the most compact and integrated solutions of its kind currently available on the market. It utilises Murata's proprietary wireless technology, which combines all key components, both active and passive, in a single miniature package. In addition to high performance, the module is characterised by extremely low power consumption, with a current draw of only 0.2 µA in sleep mode.
"This recent addition to our Type 1RM family highlights the driving force behind Murata's philosophy of helping to create a better society through the development of innovative and cutting-edge solutions," Rui Ramalho, product manager for Murata's line of connectivity modules, stressed. "Through the availability of numerous versions of MICS modules and the advanced integration technology used to build them, Murata is helping to improve the lives of patients with serious medical conditions."
