Nicomatica manufacturer of interconnect solutions, has added to its line of Switch'Air 4-prong domes the new Switch'Air™ hole domes, manufactured with a patented technology: a layer of air prevents them from adhering to each other during automated pick-and-place manufacturing, ensuring more precise, easier and faster assembly. Guaranteed for one million actuation cycles, the domes are suitable for medical, industrial and other applications.

Nicomatic's specific solution for membrane buttons

The new Switch'Air bore domes have been designed specifically for membrane buttons and are placed unrestricted in its spacer layer. They offer a superior tactile feel and excellent tolerance of the 'sweet spot' (the position of the actuator relative to the centre of the dome). The hole in the dome allows an LED to be placed underneath the upper plastic membrane, thereby reducing clutter and providing a more intuitive user experience, because the button itself lights up when pressed. Because the membrane buttons are sealed, they are ideal for medical and other applications where they need to be cleaned frequently for hygienic reasons or because they are used in environments with high levels of dust or dirt. The domes are made of stainless steel and are available with different actuation force values - 280 g, 340 g and 400 g - while the rebound force is 65 g. Nicomatic also offers LEDs suitable for use in combination with these domes, available in a range of colours and even two-tone.
