With theAcquisition of Cypress Semiconductor Corporation, Infineon consolidates its memory expertise and introduces the Semper Securesolution to its Semper NOR Flash platform.

Based on Semper Nor Flash's smart memory architecture, Semper Secure NOR Flash is the first memory solution that combines security and functional safety in a single NOR flash device, providing the security and reliability needed for the most advanced and connected automotive, industrial and communication systems.

Memory and security

With the spread of connected systems, security has become a priority. Semper Secure NOR Flash offers a reliable solution to meet stringent requirements and protects critical system information. Having a secure flash solution is especially important when NOR Flash memories are located outside processors, making them vulnerable to a variety of attacks. Semper Secure is the only NOR Flash solution that acts as a hardware root-of-trust, providing end-to-end protection. In addition, the Semper Solution development kit enables easy system integration, accelerating time-to-market and lowering total cost of ownership.

Sam Geha, Head of Infineon Technologies LLC Memory Solutions, comments: "Having a secure connected system is a priority for customers focused on protecting information and maintaining system integrity. As systems increasingly rely on external Flash NORs to protect code and data in connected systems, the need for additional advanced cryptographic security in memory increases. Our Semper Secure NOR Flash architecture equips Semper's already functionally secure products with a secure subsystem for persistent end-to-end protection, while also defending systems against compromise.

The features of the Semper Secure NOR Flash family

  • It includes the AEC-Q100 automotive devices with an extended temperature range of -40°C to +125°C, supporting 1.8 V and 3.0 V operating ranges and available in 128 Mb, 256 Mb and 512 Mb densities.
  • It is designed and fully compliant with ISO 26262, ASIL-B and ready for use in systems up to ASIL-D.
  • The implemented EnduraFlex™ architecture simplifies system design by allowing optimisation for high strength partitions or long data retention.
  • The devices are offered with Quad Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) and Octal SPI and HyperBus™ interfaces. The Octal and HyperBus interface devices comply with the JEDEC eXpanded SPI (xSPI) standard for high-speed serial NOR Flash x8 and offer a read bandwidth of up to 400 MBps.
