Telecontrol is nowadays a complex ecosystem, in which technologies and technical components are enriched by more skills and digitalisation becomes an enabling factor. In order to better interpret the changes taking place in this technological field, the Working Group of the same name of Anie Automation has changed its name to Telecontrol - Digitisation of Networks and Distributed Applications .

The changes involving networks, cities, industries, transport, etc., are forcing the member companies of the Working Group to redefine the scope of their activities, in order to better represent the new perimeter of the technological field of reference and to compare and collaborate more with other stakeholders. The new name covers the entire range of experiences where Telecontrol is present: in addition to including the term Digitisation, which summarises the technological and process areas characteristic of the experience gained and underway, the expression Distributed Networks and Applications includes the concept of Distributed Network declined with the networks traditionally associated with Telecontrol (so transmission / transport, distribution, generation / production / storage facilities, etc..), but also the sub-networks, which are nodes in a microcosm identified as Applications.

The areas of interest of remote control in the new sense

The Distributed Networks and Applications of main interest can be summarised in the following sectors: Water, Energy, Environment, Industry & Commerce, Transport, City. The Group currently has a Water Task Force and an Energy Task Force.

Antonio De Bellis, President of the Telecontrol Group, comments: "The refocusing and renaming of the ANIE Automazione Group reflects well what is happening and will have to happen in the future. Telecontrol is once again becoming the melting pot where skills and resources converge to digitalise networks and distributed applications, which will be the cornerstones of the way we live and work. Telecontrol is in continuous transformation, a precursor of the benefits that new technologies can provide: the introduction of 5G andArtificial Intelligencewill make it possible to bring to an increasingly peripheral level a series of applications that are today 'centralised' or not feasible with current communication and data processing infrastructures. The Group's renewed structure and new operating method will give even greater priority to dialogue and comparison with the outside world, enabling collaboration to explore new opportunities for development and growth."

The Telecontrol Group is also working on a White Paper on Telecontrol.
