Analog Devices has introduced the LT8650S, LT8652S and LT8653S Silent Switcher two-channel 4A/8.5A/2A synchronous step-down converters for powering automotive, telecom and solid-state systems. The patented Silent Switcher 2 architecture and spread spectrum frequency modulation enable the development of a robust PCB layout to ensure ultra-low EMI performance that easily meets CISPR25 emissions.

The new converters also feature stackable outputs for higher current applications. The outputs can be connected in parallel to modulate the output current according to system requirements, optimising thermal performance. Using just one scalable device minimises inventory and qualification time. For example, the LT8652S delivers 8.5A DC from each channel simultaneously or up to 12A on both channels. By synchronising two LT8652S chips, a 4-phase 34A power supply can be achieved.

The new Analog Devices converters at a glance

  • Silent Switcher 2 technology with integrated bypass capacitors meets CISPR25 emissions
  • Burst Mode® operation with very low quiescent current for light loads
  • Up to 12A (LT8652S) on single channel
  • Adjustable and synchronisable frequency (300kHz to 3MHz)
