Telmaa manufacturer of frictionless braking systems, has significantly reduced the time to market and optimised development costs by using multiphysics simulation solutions for three new series of magnetic induction based retarders. Ansys for three new series of retarders, braking systems based on magnetic induction.
Retarders are used in heavy vehicles, mining applications, wind turbines and lifts to dissipate some of the energy produced during deceleration. They are systems that need to be tested under extreme conditions to ensure their functionality and safety.
Thanks to Ansys, Telma has reduced the number of physical prototypes needed for validation from 10 to 1 over the last decade, resulting in faster development of retarders that can reduce particulate emissions typical of traditional braking systems by up to 90%, while significantly cutting maintenance costs.
"With Ansys' simulation solutions, we have complete physical control of the systems and can validate the models in one iteration," said Nicolas Quennet, director of research and development at Telma. "Our engineers can easily duplicate models to simulate products or parts of them and also accelerate innovation, while the Ansys name is also a guarantee of excellence and quality for our current and potential customers."
