Marelli's automotive hypervisor solution Green Hills Software was used in Marelli's mixed-criticality software-defined dashboard platform.

The software-defined dashboard combines the Android operating system with a digital dashboard and security applications in a single high-performance electronic control unit. The Integrity real-time operating system and Green Hills Software 's Multivisor secure virtualisation services ensure the separation of the two application domains on board the same dashboard, which are thus safely and securely consolidated.

The advantages of Green Hill Software technology

The real-time Integrity technology is certified up to ISO 26262 ASIL D level, and its safe and secure virtualisation services enable the combination of distributed security services across multiple displays, such as the instrument cluster and the Android-based vehicle infotainment system (IVI).

Dan Mender, Vice-President of Business Development at Green Hills Software, explains: "Critical system functions, for which maximum safety and security must be ensured, even when combined with guest operating systems such as Linux and Android, remain a key priority in the automotive market. Now global automotive customers can take advantage of the availability of an advanced E-Cockpit solution based on proven technologies, reducing the cost and time-to-market for the development of complex next-generation software-centric solutions."

In 2008, Green Hills' Integrity-178B real-time operating system was the first and only operating system to achieve NSA certification at the EAL6+ High Robustness level, the highest ever. In addition to automotive, Green Hills Software's open-architecture embedded development solutions are used in high-reliability, absolute safety embedded applications in the military/avionics, electro-medical, networking and other industries that require certified solutions.
